GitStake
Decentralized Open-Source Incentivization Platform

Hackathon Winner
Won first place in the Web3 track at PDEA's COE, Pune; awarded top honors and cash prize.
Problem Identified
Open-source projects often find it hard to get active contributors, and project maintainers don't have a simple way to highlight important issues or reward developers for their help. We wanted to build a clear, fair way to incentivize contributions that benefits everyone involved.
Concept Ideated
The idea was to connect GitHub issues with token staking. Developers or community members stake ERC20 tokens on specific issues to show their importance. Once a developer successfully fixes the issue, the staked tokens are automatically transferred to them as a reward.
Solution Built
We built a decentralized platform that links GitHub activity directly to blockchain smart contracts. Developers stake tokens on issues they want to work on, maintainers select the best pull request, and the smart contracts automatically distribute the rewards. This makes the entire contribution process automated and trustless.
Key Contributions & Impact
Designed the token-staking system and economy to help prioritize important GitHub issues.
Wrote Solidity smart contracts to safely handle token staking, reward payouts, and developer selection.
Connected GitHub API workflows with live blockchain transactions using a React and Node.js web app.
Published a peer-reviewed research paper explaining the platform's security and contribution model.
